Capable Kids and Families
"
Capable Kids and Families® is an innovative program supporting families of children with developmental delays and disabilities.
The program provides:
- Monthly home visits
- A developmental therapy equipment loan program
- A sensory playroom (at the Rolla office)
- Networking opportunities for enrolled families
Visits with Capable Kids and Families® staff take place in the convenience of your home on a monthly basis. Your home visitor will bring activities for your child, developmental therapy equipment loan items, and a variety of community resource connections. We know how busy you are and believe it is a privilege to be a part of your child’s team.
Capable Kids and Families® also provides opportunities for your family to connect with others who are also parenting children with disabilities. Families can network during group meetings and other special outings, such as to the pool, library, or pumpkin patch.
The program also has an extensive loan collection of professional therapy equipment. Therapists frequently suggest activities parents can do at home to support their child’s developmental goals. This allows parents to work on those goals under the guidance of their child's therapist with the appropriate equipment.
Target Audience
Families of children with a diagnosed developmental disability or delays between birth and five years of age who reside in Crawford, Dent, Franklin, Maries, Phelps, or Pulaski counties. Families must have an income below 185% of the federal poverty level (similar to WIC eligibility). We can help determine if a family qualifies financially.
Phelps County: Children between birth and twelve years of age may enroll, and there is no income guideline in Phelps County.
